The U 89 i has two additional polar patterns: wide angle cardioid and hypercardioid, in addition to omni directional, figure 8 and cardioid. Like the U 87, the U 89 i is a side address large diaphragm microphone, ideal for a broad range of recording applications and instruments. The U 89 i is capable of handling high SPL of up to 140dB.
