I grew up in a time where there were very few LBGTQ books and I felt very much an anomaly. I heard great things about this book and wanted to read it. I found the book to be written super simply and not adding much to the conversation. I am glad it exists but it was super simplistic and it really doesn’t add much to the conversations around transitioning. It might be a great book for a kid just starting to figure out who they are. I left this book in a free library in a public space in hopes it gets read by someone who needs the message.

I discovered Lewis through TikTok and even showed a few of his videos to my mom. While I’m a bit younger than Lewis, my mom and I laughed at his videos because they reminded us of my emo teen self. Funny and so adorable! I love Lewis’s relationship with his mom! It’s so addictive I read the whole book in a single sitting! There is a few strips of nudity as well as a couple suggestive scenes (very brief), so absolutely intended for kids who have/are learning about puberty! And of course, you get what you pay for. If you buy a book written by a trans man telling his story, of course you’re going to have trans representation. Over all, so, so adorable!
