The pad is glued to the squab frame and then needs to be trimmed to follow the outer edge of the frame. The white wadding material is then laid over this edge and softens the edge of the pad before the seat cover is fitted. These are gorgeous! The thick, heavy look and feel that I was hoping for, great screws to match (we used different anchors, since the provided anchors are not the strongest style). Similar ones at the local big-name hardware store are at least three times the price and are no better quality. I would (and will) definitely buy these again for more projects. Originally bought the six of these even though I only needed two because the price was still the best I could find, and ended up using all six almost immediately. They look so good, I found more projects for them!
